Risborough pupils prepare for rock challenge

PUPILS at a south Bucks school are getting ready to rock as they prepare to take on 11 other schools in a major dance, drama and music event.

Princes Risborough School has been preparing to take part in the Global Rock Challenge at Portsmouth's Guildhall later this month.

They are hoping to build on their success of last year, where they took the prize for 'Best Drama Skills' in the same competition.

This year's performance by the sixty-plus students is entitled ‘An Emotionless World’, which follows the story of Poppy and Edward.

In their world all human emotion has been eradicated by a micro-chip implant in order to bring order and unity to the planet. The young teens have developed immunity to their microchip and make it their mission to bring love and hate back to the world.

The Rock Challenge, which takes place on Tuesday April 27, is being run by the Be Your Best Foundation, which encourages youngsters to take an active role in building safe and healthy communities.

The foundation strives to inspire young people to reach their potential and achieve their dreams without the need for alcohol, tobacco or other drugs.

Before setting off for the show, pupils will be taking part in a fundraising ‘Night to Celebrate Talent’, which will be held on Friday April 23 from 7pm.

It will feature dance groups from the school including Elite, Shock Out, students taking BTEC Dance, and students who are finalists in the upcoming Wycombe’s Got Talent night.
