BLESSED SACRAMENT

Crusaders for January are: eighth grade, Hunter Nance and Rachel Stair; seventh, David Fosco, Heather Horton and Alexandra Robinson; sixth, Valerie Bowman and Bailee Clouse; fifth, August Hall, Kailey Smith and Tierra Tooill; fourth, Sam Anderson, Emily Brown and Emmy White; third, Noah Campbel; second, Peyton Ehret, Megan Grabo, Faith Weiner; first, Jacob Hinger; and kindergarten, Erin Selfe.

Students in kindergarten through eighth grades studied of the art of square dancing. Children were introduced to square-dance terms and movements, experiencing intense physical and mental exercise and developing positive social skills.

Kindergarten and first-grade classes performed songs and choreography as entertainment for a luncheon at Christ United Methodist Church on March 3 as part of the observance of Music in Our Schools Month.

Spring Gala 2010 will be from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday at the Longaberger Golf Club. There will be a fun-filled evening of wine and craft beer tasting, hors d'oeuvres, and wall of wine/barrel of beer raffles, followed by an art auction filled with a wide variety of affordable art pieces. Dessert and dessert wines will be served after the auction. Wine and craft beer tasting, hosted by The Beverage Source, will feature Firelands Winery of Sandusky and Weasel Boy Brewing Co. of Zanesville. Artwork is provided by Marlin Art. Tickets are $35. ST. FRANCIS DE SALES

The students in grades three through five will be display their artwork at The Works on March 25. Viewing is available from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Enrollment still is open for the 2010-11 school year. If you have an eighth-grade student and want to know more about sending them to Newark Catholic, call Mrs. Heiser at (740) 344-3594 for information or to schedule a "shadow day" for your student at NC.

Students in grades two through eight participated in a Lenten Penance on Tuesday. The sixth-graders created hand drawings of the Stations of the Cross. Thanks to Father. Bob and all our visiting priests!

Prospective parents are welcome to visit our school from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday. Come see the wonderful things that happen in our community.

The Student Council are assisting with this year's Operation Feed for the Food Pantry Network of Licking County. As part of our efforts to contribute to this year's food drive, we are collecting cash and nonperishable food items. If you would like to make a donation toward Operation Feed, contact Jay Yong at jayyoung@laca.org or stop by the school office. Collections will end Friday. We encourage you to help give back to our community this year by donating to Operation Feed.

The Touch of Class auction will be April 24. This year's theme is Eastern Elegance. If you want to make a donation or reserve a ticket to attend, call the high school at (740) 344-3594.

The Newark Catholic Athletic Associationis serving its famous hand-breaded fresh perch dinners with homemade macaroni and cheese, green beans, french fries, coleslaw, roll, beverage and Velvet Ice Cream during Lent. Dinner is served from 4 to 8 p.m. with early-bird specials before 5 p.m.
