This week we also recognize the contributions of Officer Corey Norman of the Santa Clara Public Safety Office in honor of "School Resource Officer Week." Officer Norman has been a great addition to our school. He is friendly and outgoing with our students and staff as he works to ensure the safety of everyone at Lava Ridge.
Parents should also be aware that beginning this week students will pay their lunch money before school to our lunch secretary, Brenda Wilson, in the commons area. Teachers will no longer collect money during first-period classes.

It's hard to believe we've started the final term. Performing Arts students wrote the music, scripts and performed their own operas for a students and the community March 17. They did a great job and look forward to their annual school play in May.
Students in our media productions class recently visited the television studio at SUU. This was a great opportunity to learn about broadcasting and gave students ideas for our KUGR morning show.
Congratulations to the following first-place winners of the Career Carnival from each sixth-grade core class: Kache White, Brooke Williams, Shawnee Johnson, Seleck Rigby, Camry Gover, Russell Rowland, Abby Shakespeare, Summer Smith, Dax Callison and Cassie Peck. Our wonderful PTSA provided cash awards and certificates for the first-, second- and third-place winners from each core class. A special thank you to Natalie Haley, our sixth-grade counselor, who organized the event.
