INDIAN RIVER CHARTER HIGH

Here come the French! Indian River Charter High School’s French teacher, Karima Mann, has created some interesting tasks this semester for her French language students. The students have created three pages on the school’s French website. The pages include la Gazette Chouette, an online French newspaper, les Passages de la Vie, a blog where students create fictitious characters and update their life changes on a weekly basis and le Patrimoine Francais, a page on French heritage. For this last page the students posted a variety of information about the famous Paris monument the Arc de Triomphe. Ms. Mann is pleased that the experience is allowing her less proficient students to “write French on a regular basis,” while at the same time giving her advanced students opportunities to create “high quality and creative postings.” Congratulations to you all! The web pages can be found at the following link: http://sites.google.com/a/irchsonline.org/mann/

NORTH COUNTY CHARTER

Attention parents: There will be no school Feb. 15 in observance of Presidents’ Day. School will resume regular schedule on Feb. 16. A special congratulation is in order to our very own second-grader, Caitlyn Sturtsman, in Mrs. Kerrian Irons’ class. A special awards ceremony was given on Feb. 10 to honor her for her poster she submitted to the countywide contest held by the Indian River Count Soil and Water Conservation. We are so very proud of her outstanding accomplishment! Our fifth-graders in Mrs. Summer Maldonado’s class studied, practiced, and performed an original Reader’s Theater for our students this past week. It was certainly a treat to see the various creative talents that glow brightly within the bunch. Miss Allison Holman’s first-graders have embarked on a sensory unit of adjectives and describing words, applying it to all class subject areas.
